The Governor's Expert Emergency Epidemic Response Committee acts to advise the governor during an emerging or ongoing public health threat. It creates a mechanism for sharing public health decision-making with healthcare and infectious disease experts to achieve clarity and consensus in public health recommendations and the governor's executive emergency orders. The model provides ideas and instruction that could be incorporated into other states' advisory committee models. It is important, however, that the State Health Official chair such a group, so as not to create confusion in policy advice during a time when rapid and solid decision-making is required.
